A delegation from I Castelli Animati/La Città dell’Animazione e dei Contenuti Digitali, together with Top Toon Entertainment, took part in FICCI Frames in Mumbai, India, from 16 to 18 March. Organised by FICCI, which brings together more than 1.500 companies and over 500 Indian Chambers of Commerce and Professional Associations, FICCI Frames is India’s foremost event in the sector of entertainment: Cinema, Radio and TV, Digital Entertainment, Animation, Games, VFX.
Participation in the convention of the Italian delegation is part of the project of internationalization realized within the ambit of the programme agreement between the Ministry of Economic Development and the Lazio Region of Italy in collaboration with ICE – Italian Trade Commission and Sviluppo Lazio, which foresees actions to sustain the processes of internationalization of small and medium enterprises in the sector of animation and digital entertainment based in the Lazio Region. The mission was the final leg in a course actions of aimed at increasing awareness and furthering relations with the sector of Indian audiovisuals, which included the participation in I Castelli Animati 2009 of a delegation of operators and artists from India, the realization of a market study on animation and gaming in this country, the promotion of Lazio-based businesses in relation to Indian operators and meetings with the major operators in the sector in India. A promotional brochure was produced to present the companies operating in the Lazio Region and the entire production chain, and was distributed during the event to the operators present.
The many conferences at FICCI Frames, with the participation of speakers of international calibre, dealt with all aspects of the entertainment industry, including subjects relative to animation and gaming, supplying the Italian delegation with important elements for a better understanding of the Indian market.
The Italian delegation took part in numerous B2B meetings with Indian companies while the evening of Wednesday 17 March was the occasion of a "networking cocktail" offered by ICE during which La città dell’animazione e dei contenuti digitali, together with Top Toon Entertainment, took the stage to present themselves and speak about the internationalization actions and the production chain in Lazio.
From the data available at the convention, it emerged that in India a total growth trend of 13% is foreseen in the next five years in the sector of Media and entertainment and that the gaming division has the highest growth potential.
