Five short films will compete for the Cartoon d'Or 2010, selected from 29 films awarded in Europe’s major festivals which include I Castelli Animati.
The Jury: Joanna Quinn (film-maker, UK), Valérie Schermann (producer, France) and Géza M. Tóth (film-maker, Hungary), has chosen:
"A Family Portrait", Joseph Pierce, UK
"Krokodill", Kaspar Jancis, Estonia
"Logorama", H5 (François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy & Ludovic Houplain), Francia
"Sinna Mann", Anita Killi, Norvegia
"The Tale of Little Puppetboy", Johannes Nyholm, Svezia
The winning film will be announced in Sopron, Hungary, on 17 September, during the course of the Magyar Cartoon Forum, the yearly appointment which sustains the coproduction and distribution of animated products for TV.
The winner will receive a prize of 10.000 euro, thanks to the support of the EU’s MEDIA Programme.
The Cartoon d'Or was created in 1991 by the CARTOON Association to promote European talent in the animation sector and to create a link between content creators and the audiovisuals industry.
Over the years, the prize has been awarded to: David O’Reilly, Nick Park, Sylvain Chomet, Mark Baker, Michael Dudok de Wit, Jacques-Rémy Girerd, among others.
